AMREP SUBSIDIARY ACQUIRES MAGAZINE DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS
Thursday November 17, 2004
NEW YORK, NY - AMREP Corporation (NYSE: AXR) today announced that Kable Distribution
Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Kable News Company, Inc., has acquired the magazine distribution
rights for more than 50 publishers from David E. Young, Inc. (DEYCO), a specialty distributor of
magazines owned by Source Interlink Companies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SORC) of Bonita Springs, Florida.
This transaction adds over 100 wholesale accounts throughout North America to Kable's current
roster of Independent Distributors, and is expected to provide immediate expansion benefits to
many of Kable's client publishers.
Kable President and Chief Operating Officer Michael P. Duloc commented, "We are pleased to
complete this transaction. DEYCO's business model is synergistic with our core competencies and
can therefore be managed and expanded efficiently. Our long-term strategy is to expand all areas
of our publisher services related businesses. This purchase enhances the distribution capabilities
of Kable Distribution Services just as our 2003 purchase of the subscription fulfillment business
of Electronic Data Systems bolstered the effectiveness and array of services offered by Kable
Fulfillment Services to its clients."
Leslie Flegel, Source Interlink Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, "This strategic
transaction places Deyco's clients with a company whose main focus is the representation of
publishers to the wholesaling community, while our primary focus is direct-to-retail distribution.
We therefore avoid any potential conflicts while enhancing services of our former wholesaler and
publisher clients. Source Interlink does a substantial amount of business with Kable and find
them to be a very professional and reliable company. We are confident that they will do an
excellent job."
AMREP's Kable News Company subsidiary is a major national distributor of magazines in the
newsstand industry and provider of subscription fulfillment and related services to the publishing
community. AMREP, through another subsidiary, is also a major landholder and leading developer of
real estate in New Mexico.
